Cadbury Rejects Another Hostile Bid From Kraft

LONDON (AP) — Kraft Foods Inc. launched a 9.8 billion pound ($16.4 billion) hostile bid for Cadbury PLC on Monday — refusing to sweeten a previous offer rejected by the British candy maker. The terms of the cash-and-stock approach were left unchanged, effectively representing a lower offer for Cadbury investors because of a shift in share prices of both companies.

GM Rumored To Invest $100 Million In Ontario Plant

TORONTO (CP) — General Motors Co. will reportedly invest nearly $100 million to increase production at an assembly plant in Ingersoll, Ont. Sources tell the Globe and Mail the upgrade to Cami Automotive Inc. will be announced today at the facility in southwestern Ontario. The investment is designed to boost output of the Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain crossover utility vehicles.

BEIJING (AP) — Powered by tax cuts and stimulus spending, China's October auto sales soared 72 percent from a year earlier, outpacing U.S. sales for another month, according to data reported Monday. Automakers sold a total of 1.2 million cars and trucks, the government-sanctioned China Association of Auto Manufacturers announced.

Sturgis, S.D. To Get More Guns, Workers

STURGIS, S.D. (AP) — As many as 30 new jobs are coming to the South Dakota town of Sturgis. California-based Bar-Sto Precision Machine Co. has announced plans to open a new facility on the south end of the Sturgis industrial park. The Bar-Sto plant will manufacture precision gun barrels for most of the handguns in use today by law enforcement agencies, as well as by competitive shooters.

Toyota Workers Complain Over Anti-Union Policies

BUFFALO, W.Va. (AP) — Workers at the Toyota Motor Corp. ( NYSE:TM ) plant in Buffalo have filed a grievance with the National Labor Relations Board, saying they're being denied the right to pass out union literature. The complaint was filed Friday at the federal agency's regional office in Cincinnati.

Alcoa To Invest $110 Million In Cleveland Plant

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Alcoa Inc. ( NYSE:AA ) plans to invest more than $110 million at its Cleveland plant in part to refurbish a forging press used in the production of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter plane. Ohio Governor Ted Strickland said Thursday that the investment will help keep good jobs in Cleveland.
