RIDLEY PARK, Pa. (AP) — An order of 14 new Chinook helicopters by Britain's Royal Air Force could mean more work at the Boeing Co.'s factory in suburban Philadelphia. Chris Owens, president of Boeing's United Aerospace Workers Union Local 1069, told the Delaware County Times that the order could mean work for as many as 100 new employees.
EDINA, Minn. (AP) — An Edina (ee-DEYE'-nah) company has been awarded a military contract to build miniature robots. ReconRobotics has military orders, worth nearly $6 million, to build the mini robots that can perform surveillance in areas that are considered too dangerous for troops, like inspecting a potential explosive device.
PERRYSBURG, Ohio (AP) — Chrysler Group LLC plans to invest $72 million in a northwest Ohio plant, and the state's governor said Tuesday there might be bigger things to come from the automaker. Chrysler wants to install new equipment and modernize its Toledo Machining Plant near Perrysburg, which will allow it to retain 640 hourly and salaried jobs, the company said.
BEIJING (AP) — China will appeal a World Trade Organization rejection of its curbs on exports of industrial raw materials, the government said Wednesday, in a case that Washington and Europe hope will lead to an easing of its restrictions on rare earths sales. "We still consider that China practice and China's policies do not violate WTO rules," Ministry of Commerce spokesman Shen Danyang at a regular news briefing.
NEW YORK (AP) — Caterpillar Inc. said Wednesday it plans to build a factory for large wheel loaders in China. The Peoria, Ill. company said the factory on China's east coast will develop a new model of wheel loader for use in China and other developing countries. Caterpillar didn't say how much it would spend on the new factory or an accompanying research and development facility.
